Pedagogy

our approach to learning

Learning with Intention

Each component of the learning experience is intentional.

CURRICULUM CONTENT + LEARNING ENVIRONMENT + DELIVERY

Teaching resources are carefully designed to meet learning outcomes while presenting the Qur’anic worldview.

The space is curated to convey meaningful orientation, a sense of harmony and purposeful learning.

And the content is delivered to foster a nurturing, integrated learning experience.

Each mindful step takes us further along the lifelong learning path. Bismillah!

Internalizing Enduring Understandings

There are ongoing threads that connect our learning across disciplines and over time.

These Enduring Understanding provide unifying concepts and are conceptualized through sustained inquiry in the learning process:

  • Signs and symbols point us our Creator and Sustainer.

  • There is harmony in the cosmos.

  • We have a place in space and time.

  • Language is a divine gift to be treated as an amanah.

  • All Prophets brought the same essential message: to remember God.

  • Sakinah is the fruit of inner harmony and external balance.

Three Pedagogical Pillars

We seek to be nature-focused, historically-rooted, and service-oriented.

Thematic Learning

Our theme topics are important concepts in the Qur’an. Learning how they are presented in the Qur’an gives us a way to develop and embed the Qur’anic worldview in our teaching and learning. Thematic work deepens our learning. For example, what does the Qur’an say about “water”? How is water essential for life? How does water play a significant role in stories of the prophets? How was water managed and used in Muslim history? How can we act responsibly with water? A theme is a tool that connects our learning across subject areas at all grade levels.

Five Critical Attributes

We strive to be intentional, respectful, responsible, reflective and real.
