Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this letter finds you well in faith and in good health.
We are pleased to share the highlights of our students’ learning experiences and activities during the month of October. Below is a summary of what we covered across various grade levels.
Kindergarten
• We recited Ayah 1 & 2 of Surah Al-Falaq multiple times to aid memorization.
• We sang a song in Arabic about Allah being our Lord and discussed the importance of using our right hand in daily tasks.
Grades 1, 2 & 3
• We reviewed Surah Al-Falaq, discussing its meaning and the significance of reciting it during morning and evening Adhkar.
• Students practiced reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas and engaged in discussions about the meaning of Surah Al-Falaq and Al-Nas.
• We emphasized the importance of greeting others with "As-Salamu Alaikum" and discussed the Hadith about spreading peace among one another.
(Reference Riyad as-Salihin 847)
Grades 4, 5 & 6
• We taught them about the importance of honesty and, exploring Hadiths about kindness, truthfulness and humility. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar".
(Reference Riyad as-Salihin 54)
• Students engaged in discussions on the significance of Surah Al-Falaq and Al-Nas for protection against external and internal evils.
• We introduced Du’aa to be recited before tests and discussed the importance of asking Allah for ease in difficult tasks.
“Oh, Allah! Nothing is easy except what You have made easy. If You wish, you can make the difficult easy.”
Classroom Highlights and Student Reflections
• Towards the end of October, we spoke about Islamic perspectives on non-Islamic holidays, specifically Halloween, explaining the importance of avoiding celebrations that don’t align with Islamic teachings.
• Throughout the month, students showed curiosity and enthusiasm in learning about Islamic values and manners. Grades 1 and 2 participated in discussions about blessings and gratitude, identifying ways Allah has blessed us.
• KG and younger grades enjoyed activities that included Islamic songs and simple coloring tasks related to Allah’s creation.
